Our ocean's stewards

Small-scale fishers are the most numerous ocean users and the most effective stewards of coastal marine life.But for many small-scale fishers, the power to act as ocean stewards has been eroded or is under threat.

The mission

People and Fish works in partnership with fishing organisations to secure fishers' rights and strengthen their representation.This shifts power back to coastal communities, enabling small-scale fishers and fishworkers to steward our oceans for people and nature.

The collaboration

People and Fish uses expertise and connections gained over a decade working in the fisheries and marine conservation sectors to enable small-scale fishers to steward our oceans.This includes tailored collaboration with fishing organisations on campaign planning and implementation, policy analysis and technical guidance, fundraising and reporting, and communications and copywriting.
